Reported Speech

Direct & Indirect Speech
การนำคำพูดของคนอื่น ๆ ไปบอกเล่าใครฟังมีวิธีพูดได้ 2 วิธีคือ
1. ยกคำพูดเดิมไปบอกทั้งหมด (Direct Speech)

Nicole says, "I am going to the movie."
Judy says to me, "get out"
2. ดัดแปลงคำพูดเดิมเป็นคำพูดของผู้เล่าเอง (Indirect Speech)
Nicole says that she is going to the movies.
Judy tells me to get out.
การเปลี่ยนประโยคคำพูดจาก Direct Speech หรือ Indirect Speech
มี 3 ประเภท

1. Indirect Speech - Statement
2. Indirect Speech - Questions
3. Indirect Speech - Command or Request
การเปลี่ยนประโยคคำพูดเป็น Indirect Speech ยึดหลัก 4 ข้อดังนี้

1. เปลี่ยนแปลง Tense
2. เปลี่ยนแปลง Personal pronoun
3. เปลี่ยนแปลง Nearness เป็น Distance
4. เปลี่ยนแปลง Reporting Verb (กริยาในประโยคนำ)

I. Indirect Speech - Statements
กฏการเปลี่ยน Direct Statement เป็น Indirect Statement

1. เอาเครื่องหมายคำพูดออก (Question mark)
2. เปลี่ยน says --->say that , said ----> said that
say to ----> tell , said to ----> told
3. เปลี่ยนสรรพนามให้เหมาะสม
4. เปลี่ยนคำต่อไปนี้ จากใกล้ ไกล

this---->these

that---->those
now---->here
ago---->before
tonight---->that night
today---->that day
last night---->the night before/the previous night
yesterday---->the day before/the previous day
last month---->the month before/the previous day
last week---->the week before/the previous week
next week---->the following week
tomorrow---->the following day/the next day
***จำ ถ้าเป็นอะไรที่ผ่านมาแล้วใช้ before หรือ previous แต่ถ้าเป็น ยังไม่ถึงใช้ following หรือ next จ้า****

5. ถ้า Verb ใน Direct Statement เป็น Present ไม่ต้องเปลี่ยน Tense แต่ถ้า Verb ใน Direct Statement เป็น Past ต้องเปลี่ยน Tense ใน Indirect Statement เป็น more past เช่น Present Simple ----> Past Simple

Present Continuous ----> Past Continuous
Present Perfect ----> Past Perfect
Past Simple---->Past Perfect
Past Continuous ----> Past Perfect Continuous
Future Form ----> Future in the Past Forms
**จำ ถ้าเป็น Present ให้เปลี่ยนเป็น Past// ถ้าเป็น Past เปลี่ยนเป็น Perfect ในรูป Past// Future เปลี่ยน เฉพาะ will เป็น would// ส่วน modal มะต้องเปลี่ยนจ้า***


II Indirect Speech - Question

Indirect Speech - Question มี 2 แบบ
1. Indirect Question ที่ประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Question Words
2. Indirect Question ที่ประโยคคำถามขึ้นต้นด้วย Helping Verb
Ex 1. He said to me , "Who is she ?"
He asked me who she was.
2. Jane says to me , "Can you remember me ?"
Jane asks me if (whether) I can remember her.
กฏของการเปลี่ยน Indirect Question
1. ถอดเครื่องหมายคำพูด (Quotation mark) ออก
2. reporting verb ต้องเป็น ask , asks หรือ asked แล้วตามด้วยคำเชื่อม ถ้าคำถามเดิมขึ้นต้นด้วย Question Word ก็ใช้เชื่อมได้เลย แต่ถ้าคำถามเดิมขึ้นต้นด้วย Helping V. ให้ใช้ if หรือ whether เชื่อม
3. การลำดับคำให้อยู่ในรูปประโยคบอกเล่า ตัดเครื่องหมาย ? ออกใส่ full stop แทน
4. มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงสรรพนามให้เหมาะสม และเปลี่ยนแปลง Tense ถ้ากริยานำเป็น Past

III Indirect Speech - Commands or Requests
การเปลี่ยนประโยค คำสั่ง ขอร้อง ให้เป็น Indirect Speech ให้ถือหลักดังนี้
1. เปลี่ยน said , said to เป็นคำต่อไปนี้
command - สั่งอย่างเฉียบขาด
told - บอก สั่งธรรมดาทั่ว ๆ ไป
asked - ขอร้อง
ordered - สั่งค่อนข้างเฉียบขาด
begged - วิงวอน อ้อนวอน
warned - เตือน
requested - ขอร้อง
advised - แนะนำ
proposed - เสนอแนะ
forbide - ห้าม
2. ถอดเครื่องหมายคำพูดออก
3. ใช้ to + V1 เมื่อประโยคนั้นสั่งให้ทำ
not to + V1 เมื่อประโยคนั้นห้ามทำ
4. เปลี่ยนสรรพนามตามความเหมาะสม
Ex. 1. A teacher said to me , "Open the door."
A teacher told me to open the door.
2. Father said to me , "Don't make a loud noise."
Father told me not to make a loud noise.
3. He said to her , "please , don't be have like that."
He begged her not to be have like that.

Get

Get up ขึ้นมาจากเตียงก็ได้ยินเสียงเธอมาแต่ไกล
Get down to เรื่องหัวใจ มัน Get over ชนะทุกที
Get lost ไปซะ ไม่งั้นฉันเองจะ Get away วิ่งหนี
ไม่ Get on with เข้ากันดีจะรักทำไมให้เสียเวลา
ก็เธอ Get into เบนซ์ (into เบนซ์)
ส่วนฉัน Get on รถเมล์ (on รถเมล์)
รักเรามันจึงรวนเร เหมือนใจ Get lost หลงทาง
Get in touch with กับเธอก็ฝันก็เพ้อถึงทุกเวลา
ยาทั้งกินทั้งทาไม่เห็นจะ Get over ซะที (*)
ก็เธอ Get out off เบนซ์
ส่วนฉัน Get off รถเมล์ (off รถเมล์)
รักเรามันจึงรวนเร เหมือนเรา get lost หลงทาง

Get up ( phrasal verb) ลุกขึ้น
• They have to get up early in the morning. ตื่นนอน
Get down to ( phrasal verb) เริ่มทำ
• I’ve got a lot of work to do, but I can’t seem to get down to it. ยังไม่ได้เริ่มทำ
Get over (phrasal verb) หาย (ป่วย,เสียใจ )
• She was only just getting over the flu when she got a stomach bug. เพิ่งหายดี

Get lost (phrasal verb) หลงทาง
• I think we get lost! หลงทาง
Getaway (phrasal verb) วิ่งหนี, หลบหนี
• The two masked men made their getaway in a stolen van. หลบหนีไปในรถตู้
Get on (with) (phrasal verb) ขึ้นรถ
• I think we got on the wrong bus. ขึ้นรถ
Get into (phrasal verb) เข้าไปในรถ, ขึ้นรถ
• He get into a black Ferrari. เข้าไปในรถ
Get in (phrasal verb) ขึ้นรถ
• Get in the taxi and note the amount already on the clock. ขึ้นรถ
Get out of (phrasal verb) ออกมาจาก, ลงมาจาก
• Brad Pitt just get out of his luxury car. ออกมาจาก, ลงมาจาก
Get off (phrasal verb) ลงรถ
• I tripped as I got off the bus. ลงรถ

Run into (phrasal verb)เผชิญ (สิ่งไม่ดี )
• We ran into trouble. เผชิญปัญหา
Run over (phrasal verb) ทำเลยเวลา (รถทับ)
• He ran over a six-year-old child as he was driving back from a party. ขับรถชน
Run away (phrasal verb) หนี หลีกเลี่ยง

Run down (phrasal verb) หมด ,เพลีย

รู้ว่าเธอรักเค้าอยากดูแลเพียงเค้า อยาก look after ให้ดี
look up คำเป็นล้านคำ เพื่อ look up to ชื่นชมเค้า
แต่ฉันห่วง ว่าเค้าไม่มีรักแท้ แต่ฉันห่วง ว่าเค้ามองเธอเป็นแม่
ไม่รักกัน แบบนั้น รู้ว่าเธอรักเค้าแต่อยากให้เธอ look out

Look over (phrasal verb)ตรวจดู
• I had a few minutes before the meeting to look over what he’d written. ตรวจดู
Look out (phrasal verb) ระวัง มองหา
• Look out! There’s a car coming! ระวัง
Look up (phrasal verb) ค้นหา, มองหา
• If you don’t know the words mean look it up in the dictionary. ค้น
Look up to (phrasal verb) เคารพ, ยำเกรง
• He’d always looked up to his uncle. เคารพ
Look into (phrasal verb) (V) ตรวจสอบ, ตรวจเช็ค
• It should also look into the possibilities of wind-generated electricity. ตรวจเช็ค
Look for (phrasal verb) มองหา

Break out (phrasal verb)เกิดขึ้น (ในทางไม่ดี )
• War broke out in 1914. เกิดขึ้น
Break through (phrasal verb)การค้นพบสิ่งที่ทำให้ไปสู่ความสำเร็จ, ฝ่าอุปสรรค
• There is still scope for new writers to break through. ปฏิบัติเพื่อไปสู่ความสำเร็จ
Break down (phrasal verb)ล้มลง ล้มเหลว เสีย
• Our car broke down and we had to push it off the road. รถเสีย

Break in / into ( phrasal verb): งัดบ้านเพื่อขโมยของ ขัดจังหวะ
• The burglars broke into through the kitchen window. งัดบ้าน
Break up ( phrasal verb) แยกกัน เลิกกัน
• She’s just broken up with her boyfriend. เลิกกัน
Break off ( phrasal verb): จบสิ้น
• The government has broken off diplomatic relations. สิ้นสุดความสัมพันธ์
Break away ( phrasal verb) แยกตัวออกมา
• The group broke away from the Labour Party in 1932. แยกตัวออกมา
